Apple Sauce with Balsamic

Ingredients

  • 6 apples (we suggest MacIntosh since they cook down well)
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 or more of 4 whole cloves, 4 cardamom pods, a cinnamon stick, 2-3 star anise
  • brown sugar to taste
  • Olives On Tap Pepper honey vinegar, Red Apple, Gravenstein Apple or Blackberry Ginger Vinegar

Instructions

  1. Peel, core and chop the apples and transfer to a saucepan with the water and your choice of spices. Cover, bring to the boil then reduce the heat and simmer until the apples have softened and fallen apart into a sauce. Add sugar to taste. Stir in 2 tbsp of Serrano honey. Allow the sauce to cool then remove the spices.
  2. Serve over yogurt with pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds
